Are you tired of being an addict? Do you want an opportunity to truly overcome your addiction? Beethoven Recovery Centre offers a rehab centre and a world-renowned programme to give you the means to conquer your addiction for good! Our facility is located next to the Hartbeespoort dam to create a peaceful and tranquil environment for our patients – removing them from a bustling city environment. Today, we talk about the struggles of living with an addiction and the necessary steps that you can take to overcome your addiction.
The Ties That Bind
Living with an addiction is difficult, as your addiction dictates several elements of your life – whether knowingly or unknowingly. As an addict, you will constantly feed your addiction by consuming the specific substance that you are addicted to. Alcoholics are some of the best examples – drinking throughout the day and whenever they get the chance to do so. This also applies to people who are addicted to nicotine and caffeine. Since these substances are legal and easy to acquire, it is easy for addicts to obtain and consume them. Addicts also tend to deprioritise their responsibilities when it comes to consuming their specific addictive substance.
There are other types of addiction as well. Most prescribed medications have addictive substances in them, which can lead to developing a bodily dependence on that specific substance when consumed over extended periods. Therefore, it is important to consult your doctor on the dangers of developing an addiction when consuming a specific medication over a long period. Finally, we look at behavioural addiction. When you do something that is satisfying to you, your brain releases a substance called dopamine. That substance instantly improves your mood and makes you feel good. This is the root cause behind behavioural addiction and why people get addicted to non-addictive substances. Luckily, if you need help to overcome your addiction, our rehab centre is your solution!
Facing and Overcoming Addiction
Some people have the mental capacity to face and overcome their addiction on their own by simply just stopping to consume the substance that they are addicted to. However, these people run the risk of relapsing after a while. It is a long and arduous process to overcome addiction, and at Beethoven Recovery Centre, we understand that this choice must come from the individual and not be forced onto them. As a result, our rehab centre only admits people on a voluntary basis to show their commitment to overcome their addiction. Our natural surroundings create a peaceful environment that promotes self-healing and self-reflection to allow our patients to have the peace and quiet to focus on themselves – away from any daily distraction.
Our Rehab Programme
Our rehabilitation programme is designed for people of 18 years of age and older. This programme features 2 distinct phases. During the first phase, we educate our patients on the dangers of addiction and how addiction has taken control of their lives. We equip them with the necessary knowledge and tools to identify areas in their lives that have been affected by their addiction and allow them the time to reflect on how addiction has negatively influenced their lives. The purpose of the first phase is to inspire our patients to come to a definitive decision on their addiction and stand up against it. With our assistance, we guide our patients to forge a new path in life – one of sober living wellness.
The second phase of our programme is voluntary and comes highly recommended to all our patients who completed the first phase. This phase puts the focus on social reintegration and maintaining a sober lifestyle. During this phase, we equip our patients with the knowledge and tools to stay on the straight path and not give in to their urge to relapse. We also give our patients the means to maintain their sobriety within social settings.
